What is the Best Moderate Disney Hotel?

Planning a Disney vacation and not sure where to stay? A moderate Disney hotel offers a balance of affordability, comfort, and immersive theming. I’ve explored them all, and I’m here to help you find the best fit for your family.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort – Most Relaxed

If your family loves tropical vibes, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort might be the perfect pick. With vibrant island-themed villages, sandy beaches, and swaying palm trees, it really does feel like you’re on a tropical island. The resort is also the central hub for Disney’s Skyliner, offering quick and easy transportation to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Families will love the Pool, featuring a pirate-themed water play area for kids and relaxing hot tubs for adults. Dining is pretty good here, with Sebastian’s Bistro serving Caribbean-inspired dishes, and a large food court.

This is a very spread out resort, so expect some walking. If you’re dreaming of a laid-back resort with convenience and fun for everyone, Caribbean Beach is a top contender.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – Most Upscale

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is perfect for families looking for upscale amenities without breaking the bank. Inspired by Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American cultures, this resort features beautiful architecture and serene lakeside views.

Gran Destino Tower, offers deluxe-style accommodations at moderate prices. The tower’s rooftop restaurant, Toledo, offers breathtaking views and a sophisticated dining experience. Families with young kids will enjoy the Dig Site pool area, complete with a Mayan pyramid and a thrilling 123-foot-long waterslide.

One of Coronado Springs’ biggest perks is its wide array of dining options, including quick-service, table-service, and grab-and-go choices—perfect for busy park days. It’s an excellent option for families who value a touch of luxury.

Port Orleans French Quarter – Most Charming

Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest moderate resort, and its intimate size makes it my favorite for families who prefer a quieter atmosphere. With its cobblestone streets, wrought-iron balconies, and gas lanterns, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into the heart of New Orleans.

My kids love the Mardi Gras-themed Doubloon Lagoon pool, featuring a sea serpent waterslide and splash pad. Be sure to grab some Mickey-shaped beignets from Scat Cat’s Club—they’re an absolute must-try. This is the only moderate without a sit down restaurant, but Disney Springs is only a short boat ride away.

This resort’s compact layout means everything is just a short walk, making it a great option for families with young children. Plus, its romantic ambiance also appeals to couples looking for a more peaceful Disney stay.

Port Orleans Riverside – Most Adventurous

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is a sister resort to French Quarter, but it offers a completely different vibe. This resort is divided into two distinct sections: the rustic Alligator Bayou and the elegant Magnolia Bend mansions. It’s ideal for families needing more space, as some rooms accommodate up to five guests.

Again, the resort’s pools are fantastic, with the main pool at Ol’ Man Island featuring waterfalls, a waterslide, and a kids’ play area. This resort feels more rustic than the others, with plentiful wooded areas and mazes of nooks & crannies to explore.

Riverside’s dining options include the Riverside Mill Food Court and Boatwright’s Dining Hall, where you can enjoy Southern-inspired comfort food. If you love lush landscapes and a slower pace, this resort is worth a serious look.
